
The EPAO actively participated in the 23rd European Week of Regions and Cities, the EU’s largest annual event dedicated to regional development and cohesion policy.
Organised jointly by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy and the European Committee of the Regions, this year’s event brought together over 6,500 participants, including regional representatives, policymakers, experts, and citizens from across Europe. More than 200 sessions and 300 speakers explored how regions and cities can work together for a greener, more inclusive future.
EPAO representatives took part in a series of presentations, conferences, and workshops focusing on social cohesion, climate change, and energy poverty.
Highlights of EPAO’s Participation
- Workshop: “European Regions and Cities – Advancing Efficiency and Ending Energy Poverty.”
Participants discussed ways to improve energy efficiency, address urban challenges, and strengthen EU cohesion policy. The session explored practical solutions to reduce energy costs and tackle energy poverty on the path toward climate neutrality. - Conference: “Cities and Regions Shaping International Climate Action Ahead of COP30.”
With the COP30 summit on the horizon, local and regional leaders shared common priorities and highlighted the key role of cities and regions in driving global climate action, even as national commitments fluctuate.
The event concluded with the REGIOSTARS 2025 Awards Ceremony, celebrating the most innovative and impactful Cohesion Policy projects in the European Union.
Through its participation, EPAO reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sustainable regional development, fostering social cohesion, and supporting Europe’s transition to a climate-neutral future.
