EPAO at the OECD Workshop on Inclusion and Poverty Reduction

The EPAO of the City of Athens participated in the “Workshop on Inclusive Growth for People at Risk of Poverty or Social Exclusion in Cities”, organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) at its headquarters in Paris.

The workshop brought together representatives from governments, local authorities, and organisations across Europe to discuss practical actions along three key priorities:

  • Empowering people through education, employment, and social inclusion.
  • Building inclusive cities, with a focus on housing, infrastructure, and climate justice.
  • Turning ideas into action by implementing policies that promote social cohesion.

EPAO was the sole representative from Greece, presenting its work and initiatives under the “Fair Climate Action” session. Through this contribution, the EPAO actively participated in shaping strategic recommendations to tackle poverty and social exclusion in urban areas.

The event provided an important opportunity for international networking and the exchange of good practices, reinforcing EPAO’s role as a driving force for fair and sustainable transition at both local and European levels.

This workshop was part of the OECD’s collaboration with the European Commission for the development of the upcoming report, “Compendium on What Works for Inclusive Growth in Cities,” which gathers data, trends, and best practices from across Europe to support more inclusive urban development.
